Strategic Landholder Engagement

For POWERLINK QUEENSLAND

Situation Explained

During 2013 and 2014, Leisa Prowse Consulting provided strategic stakeholder engagement advice in relation to Powerlink’s easement and substation acquisition projects in the NW Surat. Leisa Prowse provided individual engagement skills coaching to Powerlink staff and developed and delivered a stakeholder engagement skills training package.
Leisa also facilitated a number of key meetings between Powerlink and community members in relation to the projects.
During 2014, Leisa Prowse Consulting also worked with Powerlink’s Landholder Relations Group to develop a Landholder Engagement and Land Access Change Management Strategy.

Our Approach

This strategy defined the approach required to drive changes in Powerlink’s landholder engagement and land access practices and to embed the implementation of Powerlink’s Land Access Protocol (LAP) throughout the organisation.
The strategy included a summarised and detailed Development and Implementation Plan, with the summary providing a traffic light assessment of progress in implementing the change management activities across a five year time frame.

Results

We developed key change management activities articulated in the strategy, including preparing an awareness raising presentation for Powerlink staff, an outline of requirements for note taking training, and a framework for baseline internal and external research requirements. We also contributed towards the development of a supporting Change Management Communication Plan, and managed the process to implement changes to the Employee and Contractor Codes of Conduct to reflect the requirements of the LAP.
